We know that saying YES is the best part of the bridal journey, and that it's a lot of info all at once. You may have questions, or you may down the road after you are closer to your wedding date - and this page will help answer those and give you some assurances about the bridal process.
Important Info To Review
At the time your gown order was placed, we reviewed several important details with you. All relevant information, including your sales agreement, was provided by email to the address we have on file.

We ask that you carefully review your receipt and order documentation to ensure that all details are accurate, particularly sizing, color, and any requested modifications. Once a gown has entered production, changes to the order are no longer possible.

It is also important to understand that all bridal gowns require some degree of alterations once they arrive in order to achieve the best possible fit for your individual body. Gown sizing is determined by taking your measurements at the time of purchase and comparing them with the designer's size chart. We then order the size that most appropriately corresponds with those measurements.

While this process is designed to provide the closest possible starting fit, a made-to-order gown is not expected to fit perfectly without finishing touches in alterations. Alterations are a normal and necessary part of the bridal gown process and allow the gown to be tailored specifically to your body for the final fit.

Getting that perfect fit
This is the best part, so congrats and enjoy it! Your gown order is placed same day, and once confirmed is set in a production timeline. Your gown is handmade and it takes up to 30 weeks depending on the Designer, fabric and gown order. But don't stress - it is our job to take it from here. On your order is the estimated weeks for delivery so you can have an idea of when your gown will arrive. This info can be found on your receipt.
After saying yes to the dress, your next milestone is to book a hair and makeup artist, and decide on your shoes. You will need to have your shoes for your alterations appointment, and we find it best to buy these early and wear them around the house to avoid blisters on your big day. If you didn't order your veil and accessories yet - plan on booking a separate Accessory Appointment ahead of your gown pickup, or you can wait until your gown pickup appointment to purchase. We suggest coming in earlier as some accessories take up to 3 months to arrive.
The boutique does not receive updates on your dress order if it falls within the estimated delivery date timeline unless they have questions about the order itself or need confirmation of modifications. The boutique however, is notified when your gown ships, and we track each order as it makes it's way to us. If your wedding date is close, we may reach out at this time to help facilitate any early pick-up appointment and support if needed in finding or booking an alterations appointment.
Once your gown arrives in store, it is unboxed, inspected, compared to your order, steamed and then bagged and set aside for pickup along with any accessories you ordered. You are then notified by email and/or text that your gown has arrived and a link to schedule your pickup. From when your gown arrives, we have 2 weeks to notify them of any issues with your order. We ask that all pickups be made within 2 weeks of delivery to ensure we can work with the Designer if something isn't perfect.
It's most likely been months since you said yes, and the excitement is overflowing! For your 1 hour pickup appointment, please bring correct undergarments and ideally your shoes to try on with your gown. It is best to wear minimal face makeup as to not get any makeup transfer to your gown. The store may re-measure you at your arrival to have fresh measurements on file. You will also have an opportunity to try on accessories & veils to complete your look. Alterations for a "fits like a glove" feeling is almost always expected, and we can talk through this process in the boutique.
We do not perform alterations in house, but Charlotte has many qualified seamstresses, and one that we refer as "Charlotte's best" that is located around the corner from the shop. Ideally, alterations are started between 8-15 weeks ahead of your wedding date. Once you have picked up your dress, you will take it home until the day of your alterations appointment. If your wedding is not for several months, please store your gown in a clean closet, kept in the bag until alterations. The range of prices for alterations in Charlotte is $450-$1,000+ depending on work performed, fabric and style of gown.
